Do not be a skeptic. You won’t know until you try. This is another one of those things that my mother introduced me to during my childhood. It’s simple to make, semi-healthy, and looks and tastes delicious!
Chicken tocino with scrambled eggs, gai-lan, and Japanese rice.
Coming from a Filipino background, my mother introduced me to a bunch of Filipino foods, and tocino happens to be one of them. Tocino is generally marinated in Anise wine, annatto, water, salt, sugar, and pepper, thus giving it this barbeque-like taste to it. Along with longaniza, tocino is often eaten with scrambled eggs and Japanese rice, or maybe it’s just the way how my family eats it. But this it’s definitely worth looking out for at the local asian supermarket!
I’ve honestly grown up eating these brownies since grade 9. This was my friend’s most-prized possessed recipe. I don’t normally make brownies but this is a definite exception.
French Vanilla with Crème Brûlée Butter Cream Frosting
Review: Luxe Cupcake Mix
A friend of mine got this for me as a Christmas present since I love baking. I personally am not a huge fan of making cupcakes because of all the steps necessary to make a decent cupcake. However, I had to make an exception for this. The instructions were pretty much self-explanatory. The mix overall was very delicious, however, the icing was a tad too sweet. I didn’t really taste the creme-brulee part of the icing. Maybe because I was lacking the caramelized sugar? But the cake part of it was very moist and fluffy. Which was a definite plus since some mixes tend to be dry. Would I get it again? Maybe not, but I wouldn’t mind receiving it again as a gift.
